The Yamunotri Temple was constructed in the 19th century near the Yamuna River’s source. A rural settlement called Janki Chatti is about a 5-kilometer hike from the temple. The hot springs around Yamunotri, however, remain the temple’s high point, where rice is cooked and turned into prasad, which is distributed to pilgrims. Many shrines, temples, and ashrams surround the Yamunotri Temple, which you can visit to soak in the sacred aura of one of Chardham’s most attractive places.
